Horseshoe Cake Pan Magnetic Message Board

What better way to bring luck into the new year! A horseshoe shaped message center can be a serendipitous reminder of your good fortune for 2009.

Old cake pans can be found in abundance at thrift stores, flea markets, Craigslist, and more. Cover one side with a minimum of three coats of chalkboard paint. I recommend taping the pan off well and using the spray paint version for a smoother finish.

The best part is most cake pans are made of steel so magnets will stick right to them.

Do you think I could pass this one off as a "C" for Candy?

As always, take care and keep on junking!

  1. I love this idea. But, what I love even more is that you used the word "serendipitous". This word rocks, and maybe we should try to use it every post. Seriously. ~Mindy

  2. I love this--must go find cool cake pans now--and just think of the calories we will save painting them instead of making cakes in them???

  3. what a fabulous idea!

i'm headin' to the good will/antique stores tomorrow!

  4. You found a great, old pan. As much as I love your idea, as a former cake decorator it breaks my heart to see it recycled! But then original owners of all my "junk" probably feel the same way when they see my recycled stuff. I think it really works as a 'C'!

  5. What an awesome idea! I'll be looking for a Christmas tree shaped pan to decorate for next year.

  6. Love it! Oh yikes! I didn't do the last project you showed I'm double behind.

  7. I say that the C stand for Clever...that's you!

  8. This is the good blog with good images and good details. Please keep on posting the more stuff. I will like to hear more from you.
