Nope. I haven't reached my 100th post (or even my 50th for that matter), but I thought it would be fun to have a giveaway! Junkers
love curbside freebies, and this Valentine's Day week is all about
love, right? Well consider this an internet freebie chock full of
junk love...and it doesn't even involve your typical spam. This will be one piece of "Junk Mail" you'll love to receive!
I got a copy of the latest edition of
JUNKMARKET Style's Junk Beautiful magazine early last month and knew I wanted to go this direction with my giveaway. So I took my weekly trip to Home Depot to pick up another copy to give to a junk friend on my blog. The added kicker is the DVD is included with the magazine purchase! Let me tell you it is a lot of fun watching one of the most well-known junkmaster's in the business,
Sue Whitney, giving a tour of her lovely junk-laden home. The DVD also includes simple projects completed by Sue along with Kimberly Melamed as well as a junking trip they took to the flea market and so much more. Fun stuff, I tell you!
Would you like a chance to win a copy for yourself? Well, here goes! All I ask is that you leave a comment on this post...it's just that simple! If you'd like to add to the fun, list the JUNK item of your dreams in your comment and let us know if you already found it, or if it's still on your wishlist. If you mention my giveaway on your blog and link back to me, email me at junksophisticate@yahoo.com and I will add an additional entry for you good towards the giveaway. Followers with a comment will also get an added entry. So by becoming a junk friend follower your name gets tossed into my galvanized bucket once again! To do so, just add yourself on the left side of the screen.
Drawing to be held Friday, February 13th at 9:00am EST. I will announce the winner on my blog by 10:00am the same day so please check back to see if it is you! The winner must claim their junk gift and provide contact information by Tuesday, February 17th. If not claimed, a new drawing will be held, Wednesday, February 18th to locate another junker.
p.s. The junk item of my dreams is a large old apothecary cabinet loaded with drawers you can label! I haven't found one I can afford yet, but will be in junk heaven when I do!As always, take care and keep on junking!
Hmmm...the junk item of my dreams....I'm always on the lookout for wood pieces ie tables, dressers, etc. I did find one (a little wood table that needed some TLC) the other day at a junk store. I was going to go up to the register to tell the people I wanted it, but then this old blue hair and her friends took it!! I couldn't believe it! I was outsmarted by a blue hair! LOL
ReplyDeleteI'd also like to get my hands on some typewriter keys, but they are hard to find these days (at least around here).
I once found an old junky, broken down rocker. Took it home, make a cushion for it and stuck it in our bedroom. Years later, I gave it to my mother and she took the cushion off and put the rocker in her garden. It looks more at home there.
This was fun! I can't wait to see what other folks like to junk!
And I'm a follower, too. :)
Your blog is so much fun, and you sure have a great eye for spying fabulous bargains. The junk item of my dreams? An old wooden library card catalog. (In my school, the custodian used our school's old one to sort hardware. I begged to swap something modern for it, but the custodian knew a find when she saw it!) I used to say an old treadle sewing machine was my dream junk find, but my brother's neighbor put one out on the street - it made a fabulous birthday present for me!
ReplyDeleteMy junk item I am looking for is a window bench! I will find it!!!

I became a follower and will post on my blog.
ReplyDeleteI have not found Junk Beautiful in my area.
I cannot seem to leave behind homeless chairs, suitcases and silverplate flatware.
When you told us about the magazine, I raced out and got one so you don't have to put my name in the pot for it...like I ever win anything anyway. But I did want to let you know my dream item:
ReplyDeleteAny taxidermied animal or anything out of the old west...or the new west, come to think about it!
The Texas Woman
yay! okay favorite find was my little school desk i found last summer. it's just like the one i used to sit in in elementary school! i spray painted it red and absolutely loooove it!
ReplyDeleteI have so enjoyed following your blog and count me in on the drawing! The piece that I would be elated to find would be an old deep kitchen sink. My kitchen needs some TLC and would love to start it off with a sunken sink! Blessings and keep on keepin the inspiration coming!
ReplyDeleteRoxanne
Isn't that the fun about junking you find what you never thought you would find and then you are on the hunt again? I LOVE JUNK!!!

The junk items of my dreams are old wicker pieces. They must be pretty popular now as they are getting very hard to find. Your blog is fun and I look forward to browsing the archives soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to enter your drawing,
Mary
Hmm. I'm not sure what my dream junk is. But, I imagine that I will know it when I see it. ~Mindy ps. I wanna win!
ReplyDeleteA showcase with glass and there is really old (naturally...) lettering that says anything about chocolate or cocoa on it :)
ReplyDeleteA dvd! Cool!
I have been following your blog as well as Junk Market Style for about two weeks. I look forward to reading both every day! I love to collect any kind of blue, green, yellow or white pottery such as flower pots, planters, bowls or plates. My dream junk item would be a large chippy blue or green painted cupboard.
ReplyDeleteCount me in. Let's see...what's on my junk-wishlist??? I'd have to say a european goat-milk cart. I've always wanted one for my front porch. However, I did find a much sought after item on my list just before Christmas. It was a ceramic glove mold. I was so happy the day I found it.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
When you find an affordable apothecary cabinet I hope they have two----one for me. I love those, but, like you, don't care to spend the big bucks for them.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of old finds...I would LOVE to find two HUGE matching corbels! I have just the place for them in my living room. I'm afraid the closest I'll ever get to finding them would be to make some myself and then paint them to look old.
I love all of your junk creations! You're so clever!
The junk item of my dreams would be a sideboard that I can use as sink cabinet in my bathroom. Then I'd put my old sink cabinet in the garage put a wooden top on it (probably cut an old junk door) and use that as a workbench and the beginning of the workshop of my dreams.
ReplyDeleteI would like a Dewey Decimal card file stand.... or a post office box stand.. or an apothecary stand (like you)... really anything with a lot of little square drawers!
ReplyDeleteAng...
PS - Following you right now! LOL OH and I was told about your blog give-a-way by Olive

I can't find this issue around here at all!! I've looked at every magazine rack I find... I would love to win it.... if not, I'm ordering from Sue!!
ReplyDeleteMy wishlist includes, but not limited to, porcelain glove mold, scales, old hutches, and huge corbels. I know these can found online all over, but the shipping makes them not such a deal! I will be scouring more sales this year as I have more time and a list!!
Love following your blog Candy, you have a brilliant creative mind!
Hi,, I'm so glad i saw this give-a-way in time,, I haven't been able to find the magazine anywhere near me. So i hope i'm lucky enough to win. My junk wishlist has all kinds of things on it,, right now i'm on the lookout for old windows and shutters and I would love to find an old cabinet/hutch type thing for my kitchen. Thanks for all the great ideas for my junk.. I am a follower of your blog.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how I missed this before! You know I love JunkMarket! I love your blog, too! You know I'd "follow" you anywhere!
ReplyDeleteI'll put a link in my sidebar for you!
Good gracious... I have got to have that magazine also!!!! Thanks for visiting my blog. I will be posting more junk pics for sure. I will be heading out to the Mountains Of NC on a Junkcapade this Friday and I will be posting pics all my finds when I return.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day, Janna
Loved my newest discovery...Junk Beautiful Magazine...I'm delighted to see other junkers who love to "repurpose" other peoples throw aways....The issue you feature was my first experience with Junk Beautiful & I've now subscribed & anxiously await the next issue.

Hi, Wisperwood Cottage sent me to your blog. I'd love to win this book and please keep watching my blog around the Round Top/Warrenton Antique Shows in March. I have a surprise I'll share about Sue near this time.
ReplyDeleteI love me some good junk! One of my dream pieces would be an old 50s vanity..the ones with the huge curved mirrors and deep long drawers...oh, how I dream of you, sweet little vanity. I came across the perfect pale pink one at a flea market last year...but I feel hubby would have objected to me taking out a second mortgage just to buy it...so I had to pass. Is it wrong that I still think about that vanity?
ReplyDeleteoooh! I have seen this on some blogs and it looks great!
ReplyDeleteMy junk find would be the same as yours... an old wood cupboard with drawers - only skinny wide drawers for laying out sheets of paper.
I came here from Whisperwood and I will be back!
Cheryl
Hi Candy! What a nice thing to do! Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteThe junk of my dreams is one of those old lawyer's book cabinets with glass doors that come down in front of the shelves. The cabinets I've see so far are in much too good shape to be affordable!
Adding you to my blog roll right now!!
Eileen http://ruralwisconsin.blogspot.com/
Hi Candy,
ReplyDeleteI just recently found JunkMarket Style and love love love it! And that's how I also found you. I've just recently really started junking and it's fabulous - so many good ideas out there.
My favorite find would be an old post office type cabinet - saw one once in an antique store but it was HUGE bucks - still dreaming about it though.
Thanks, Joanne
I just love your blog! I've added to the list of favorites on my blog! If I had a dream junk item to find it would be an old wooden tea/beverage cart that I could mosaic! That would be fun!
