The Curb is Superb

I'm not exactly sure what is going on around here, but I have had the best luck with curbside finds as of late. Remember my Junk Decor Tour post? I commented how Lani uses vintage fish tanks in her home as part of her unique style. Linda and Dixie of The Funky Junk Sisters even wrote, "We too love the fish tanks!", after viewing the photos.

Well, guess what? I finally got a vintage fish tank today! And from the curb no less! Measuring 20" X 10-1/2", it appears to be a medium-sized tank. I haven't decided how I am going to use it, however, it already had a bleach bath and I have taken photos of it. Somewhat telling how excited I am, wouldn't you say?

Just wanted to share my curbside find with all of you! Hmmm. Now what to fill it with. Any suggestions?

As always, take care and keep on junking!

  1. Oh, Candy! The title says it all! I am such a believer in the curb -- I rarely buy anything anymore. You've definitely how some good curb momentum lately. I loved Lani's house and her use of the aquariums. I bet you'll come up with something spectacular to showcase. You go Junk Girl!

  7. I am wondering the same thing - what to fill it with? I have this neat battery jar I got from a farmer and found a couple ideas on a magazine website...old books topped with an old bedside clock, just FILLED with clocks, old doorknobs and key plates, vintage Christmas ornaments, etc., etc. In a bathroom you could set a scale inside yours easily and stack with soaps and towels...I better quit now...I could go on forever! I need to go to bed. Love your site. Take care, Andrea

  8. Why is it I never find anything on the curb but trash? Well, you could make a terrarium. Or just use it for ever-changing vignettes inside. Or wow...fish! Or you could do like my neighbor. I gave her my 26 gallon tank when I got a 90 gallon back last winter. It's sitting in her living room empty and serving as what she terms "a conversation piece."

  9. On of my favorites! Love those fish tanks ~ they look very cool as mini environments! I use them to display smaller items when I do shows ~ makes the stuff look special and keeps it from being endlessly handled.
